Detailed Itinerary
Kampala to Queen Elizabeth National Park
After an early morning pick-up from your hotel in Kampala or Entebbe, you will drive southwest to Queen Elizabeth National Park (approximately 5–6 hours). The journey takes you through the scenic Ugandan countryside, with a major stop at the Equator Monument for photos and an experiment. After lunch in Mbarara town, you will enter the park. En route to your lodge, enjoy a mini game drive, spotting the first herds of elephants and Uganda kobs. You will check into your mid-range lodge in the evening for dinner and overnight.
Chimpanzee Tracking & Kazinga Channel Cruise
Rise early for a cup of coffee before heading to the Kyambura Gorge for an unforgettable chimpanzee tracking experience. You will descend into the lush "Valley of Apes" to trek habituated chimps. After this thrilling hike, return to the lodge for a hearty breakfast and relaxation. In the afternoon, you will take a boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel, a natural waterway connecting Lake Edward and Lake George. This cruise offers one of the best opportunities in Africa to see hippos, crocodiles, and buffalo at close range, as well as hundreds of bird species. Return to the lodge for dinner.
Morning Game Drive & Return to Kampala
Start the day with a sunrise game drive in the Kasenyi Plains, the prime area for spotting lions and large herds of Uganda kob. The morning light is perfect for photography and predator action. If time and road conditions permit, you may drive through the Ishasha sector in search of the famous tree-climbing lions before exiting the park. Enjoy a scenic lunch en route. You will arrive back in Kampala or Entebbe in the late afternoon, marking the end of your safari adventure.
