Detailed Itinerary

Day 1

Nairobi to Amboseli National Park (Kenya)

After an early morning pick-up from your hotel in Nairobi, you will drive southeast towards Amboseli National Park (approximately 4–5 hours). The drive offers scenic views of the African landscape as you approach the shadow of Mount Kilimanjaro. Upon arrival at your lodge, enjoy a delicious lunch. In the afternoon, head out for your first game drive. Amboseli is famous for its large elephant herds and offers some of the closest views of Kilimanjaro. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight, enjoying the sounds of the African night.

Day 2

Amboseli to Kilimanjaro Foothills (Tanzania)

Start the day with an early morning game drive to catch the elephants and predators when they are most active, with the mountain often visible in the crisp morning light. After breakfast, you will drive to the Namanga border post to clear customs and immigration for your crossing into Tanzania. Your guide will meet you on the other side, and you will drive to the town of Marangu or Machame on the slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro (approx. 1.5–2 hours from the border). Check into your mid-range lodge, enjoy lunch, and spend the afternoon relaxing in the cool mountain air with views of the peaks. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day 3

Full Day in Kilimanjaro National Park

After breakfast, immerse yourself in the nature and culture of the Kilimanjaro region. You will enter Kilimanjaro National Park for a guided nature walk in the montane rainforest. Unlike the savannah, this area is home to colobus monkeys, blue monkeys, and abundant birdlife. Visit the beautiful Materuni Waterfalls and experience a traditional Chagga coffee tour to learn how local coffee is grown and processed. Enjoy a picnic lunch with stunning views of the mountain. In the late afternoon, return to your lodge for dinner and a restful evening.

Day 4

Kilimanjaro to Arusha

Wake up to the fresh mountain air and enjoy a leisurely breakfast. Depending on your flight schedule, you can enjoy a short walk around the lodge grounds or simply relax and take in the final views of the majestic mountain. You will then drive to Arusha (approximately 1.5 hours). You will arrive in the late morning or early afternoon, where you will be dropped off at your hotel or Kilimanjaro International Airport, marking the end of your cross-border mountain and wildlife adventure.
